Clenton Farquharson MBE, long serving member of National Co-production Advisory Group, has been appointed as the new chair of the TLAP Board; a role which will be supported by two vice chair positions representing Care Provider Alliance and ADASS.

Clenton is a well-established and highly reputed coach, trainer and consultant and an active member of TLAP steering groups. This involves making sure that all of our work is co-produced to represent the views of people with lived experience. Previously he was the chair of his local Healthwatch in Birmingham, as well as a board member for the National Skills Academy for Social Care, and co-chair of Making it Real on behalf of NCAG amongst many other roles across the country.

With six years experience of working  with TLAP and its wider partnership of 50 member organisations, he brings a wealth of understanding of the landscape of health and social care (including education, housing and employment) and what this means to people who use services, carers and citizens.

On accepting the role Clenton said:

“I’m really honoured to co-facilitate the journey of TLAP as someone who uses services of health and social care. Keeping personalisation alive is such an important job which is why it is such a great privilege to accept this role.”

Kathy Roberts, Chief Executive Association of Mental Health Providers said:

“We are delighted to be embodying the very practice which we advocate to the health and social care sector and to have a person with lived experience chairing the TLAP Partnership Board. In this way we are truly co-producing.”

Caroline Speirs, Interim TLAP Director said:

“I have had the pleasure of working closely with Clenton for the last couple of years and know the powerful difference it makes to have someone with lived experience co-producing the work we do.  Having Clenton as the Programme Board Chair will now take TLAP’s co-production commitment to a whole new strategic and influential level.  I do hope others will follow!”
