Making it happen - What this means for Lewis and his family

The team coordinator Alice takes on a coordination role to make sure that Lewis’ outcomes are achieved.

Lewis and his family employ a personal assistant to support him on a family holiday. Alice arranges for part of his budget to be taken as a direct payment so that he can employ a family friend.

Alice supports his mum Julie to write a job specification for a personal assistant.

Alice also gets in touch with a colleague, who is an occupational therapist, to look at Lewis’ bedroom and to rectify the cold and damp issues so that he can be comfortable.

Lewis’ social worker helps Lewis and the family develop a one page profile so that anyone supporting him knows best what he needs.

Lewis’ brother is studying film and media at college and agrees to help him develop a video diary using his step-dad’s Go Pro video camera.
