Power. What is it good for? Absolutely everything if it’s shared!

For personalised care and support to become a reality, and not remain an ambition, we need power. What sort?  The type that gets shared! This is the beauty of Making it Real - according to TLAP Head, Caroline Speirs.

In a new blog for Nesta, Caroline writes, “It gently encourages a shift in relations…one that is far more about relationships than transactions. An approach focused on a conversation, on what matters, on a life not a service”.

What are the most popular health resolutions for 2019?

  • Eat more healthily
  • Lose weight
  • Quit smoking
  • Do more exercise
And if you are a PA or work in frontline social care you can apply the Making it Real I and We statements as the basis of a conversation to make these and many other resolutions a reality. But it all starts with that conversation!

Read NCAG member Kate’s blog to find out how.

TLAP statement on the NHS Long Term Plan

Following the announcement of the NHS Long Term Plan, Caroline Speirs & Clenton Farquharson made the following statement:

"We are pleased to see a recognition of the role of personalisation in supporting a new NHS service model for the 21st century. The commitment to rolling out the NHS Comprehensive Care Model across the country, alongside the expansion in personal health budgets and social prescribing is very welcome as is the shift in funding to primary and community care.

"We hope that the emphasis on delivering ‘triple integration’ via the creation of Integrated Care Systems everywhere will ensure there is significant and genuine co-production with sector partners including people with lived experience and carers.

"TLAP now eagerly await publication of social care’s own long term plan, the Green Paper so that we can begin to construct a joined up approach to supporting a lasting and sustainable health and care sector".

Head of TLAP Caroline Speirs & Chair of the Board Clenton Farquharson.
