Hi,

TLAP DIGEST

Can you share an example of innovation?

We are collecting stories that showcase innovative ways to offer care and support that focus on an asset-based approach to people’s well-being rather than a deficit approach. Each asset-based support model asks the fundamental question of what matters to you rather than what is the matter with you?

TLAP’s chair in the news

“As a nation we haven’t understood what the purpose of a social care or health service really is and we certainly need a proper conversation about what it should look like in future. That means parts of the system will have to give up some of their power, and be brave and coalesce around the wellbeing principle enshrined in the Care Act”. TLAP chair Clenton Farquharson MBE offers his views on the challenges in the sector and the progress he would like to see.

Pooling money to buy care & support – call for examples

TLAP are looking for recent examples of people coming together to use their money to collectively purchase things to meet their care and support needs. We want to hear from people with experience of purchasing activities, services or materials together with others, which have supported their wellbeing and independence, or people involved in supporting this to happen. Please email Adam.Webb@tlap.org.uk if you can help.

Let’s talk evidence

In our current cash strapped culture there is increasing pressure to evidence the effectiveness of personalised care and support. But how? What constitutes evidence? And, does the evidence base or lack of it help or hinder innovation? These topics were discussed and filmed at our last Building Community Capacity Network forum. Organisations such as Creative Minds and People's Voices showcased innovative practice that can demonstrate impact. TLAP will continue to explore the topic of evidence at our upcoming symposium on 22nd March.

Have your say! Make healthcare safer and prevent mistakes

We all expect our healthcare to be safe, but mistakes can happen that may put patients at unnecessary risk. Have your say here: by 28th February 2018.

If you would like more information, visit their website. If you would like a paper copy of the survey and a free post envelope sent to you, please contact Anna Lawrence-Jones a.lawrence-jones@imperial.ac.uk or 020 7594 3149.
