Hi,

Product launch

Award winning “Pod” leads the way on treating people with severe mental health as citizens not ‘service users’.

Today TLAP & NDTi have published a short report which challenges national assumptions around what and how social care can deliver for people with mental illness to mark World Mental Health Day.

The former Lamb Street Day Centre in Coventry, under the leadership of Manager Christine Eade, has been transformed into a thriving centre known as the "Pod". It uses social brokerage to support its ‘citizens’ not ‘service users’ whilst benefitting the wider community with its cutting edge and ambitious programming.

Christine says:

“I strongly believe that in order to facilitate mental health recovery and regeneration it’s important to cultivate new relationships and approaches, forge connections with the none traditional and inspire social change through adaptive and empowered practice and an open mind.  We have to be impassioned and genuine in the work we do”

Get your asset-based approaches into gear – they’re the future: Tregonwell Hall, Wednesday 11th from 12.10-1.10pm.

This workshop,  jointly led with SCIE, NDTI and Shared Lives Plus  will explore the difference an asset based approach can make to support citizens to have a life, not a service. It will provide some excellent examples of asset based working and signpost to helpful resources.  Delegates will have an opportunity to share challenges and successes and help shape a future offer to support asset based working.   Dawn Wakeling, Strategic Director, London Borough of Barnet and Clenton Farquharson, Chair, TLAP programme board will facilitate the workshop along with other speakers. #assetbasedingear

Making it Real - making it stick: Stand E12 in the Windsor Hall on Thursday 12th during the refreshment break from 10.00-10.45am.

We’d be delighted if you would join us for a sneak preview of the progress we’ve made with updating Making it Real ahead of the launch in the spring with National Voices and Coalition for Collaborative Care. There will be cake and conversation around how it can help councils and other organisations to personalise care and support, along with a chance to enter our prize draw.

This is an opportunity for leaders to help shape Making it Real so we get it right and make it stick. The briefing will be led by Mathew Kendall -  Adults and Communities Director, London Borough of Barnet;  Duncan Tree - Head of Policy, Volunteering Matters and  Kate Sibthorp, carer and member of the TLAP National Co-production Advisory Group. #Makingitreal
