News from TLAP - dates for the diary

Join CEO of Choice Support Sarah McGuire, and members of the National Coproduction Advisory Group, Isaac Samuels & Marsha McAdam, for the latest information on person-centred care planning in mental health provision.

Whether or not you’ve been following TLAP’s webinar series from Australia, this last instalment will explain everything you need to know about how communities can pool resources to provide people with long term support to pursue an ordinary life i.e  insurance cover for social care.

If you missed last week's webinar  on the NDIS, the recording  is now available on TLAP's website. Listen to a panel of experts discuss how the insurance scheme works for the 5 million Australians who have identified as having a disability, and find out the major differences and similarities with England’s approach to personalised care.

Partner updates

This report contains research looking at life experiences that can boost or harm the mental health and wellbeing of people in later life; older people’s attitudes towards mental health; people’s experiences when seeking support or treatment and the changes needed to help people access, effective support.

There is a free voluntary test that PAs and other employees of adult social care can take. You cannot take the test if you currently have symptoms or have been advised to take the COVID-19 test. The results of the test will inform government research.

Listen up

Listen to Viki Cooke, Britain Thinks; Martin Routledge, Community Circles and Graham Atkins from the Institute for Government discuss possible solutions for the future of social care, including ideas around garnering public support.

A good read

"So, I’m sitting at my computer.. confident that I had entered the details correctly, I clicked on “OK” and a message appeared. My blood ran cold. The message told me that I had successfully paid the entire personal budget for the month into this worker’s account"
