The Royal College of Physicians has published a report outlining the current state of the NHS; Underfunded, Underdoctored, Overstretched: The NHS in 2016.

They suggest breaking down barriers between hospitals and the community, and working in partnership with patients to deliver joined-up care. To achieve this, they call for a health service that is funded to meet the demands placed on it by our growing population.

Sustainability and transformation plan guidance
NHS bodies have released guidance on how sustainability and transformation plan (STP) leaders should engage and consult patients and the public. Most areas will be expected to publish their plans, for more formal engagement, between late October and the end of the year. Every area, however, will be working to a different timeframe, based on individual circumstances and progression to date. It is important to consult local government partners for advice on how to engage local politicians and the public.
