What we will do to Make it Real
We are working with people who use services to inform and shape adult social services. We are doing this by incorporating them into the commissioning cycle, including the procurement cycle.
We are working with people to ensure that their voice in heard in the different strategies, such as the Learning Disability Strategy, the Autism Strategy, the Carers Strategy, etc.
We are working with people to ensure that they can access the Council website and printed information by having people with lived experience review the drafts and the platform and make changes as necessary. For example, the direct payments information leaflets have been reproduced into easy read.
The TLAP We statements are incorporated into some of our contract monitoring for adult social care services, so that the key performance indicators are aligned with the Making It Real Standards. We plan to roll this out with all of our contract monitoring for adult social services.
How we will co-produce and with whom
We are currently piloting the inclusion of people who use services into the commissioning processes. For the new overnight respite contracts, carers have developed the quality statements for the tendering exercise. Two carers are also on board as evaluators for the provider bids for this contract.
We plan on expanding this inclusive commissioning process with other contracts for services as and when they come up for recommissioning.
We invite people with lived experience of disabilities to review our information and our website and make changes as necessary.
