What our organisation does to support people with care and support needs:

Listen to advocate on behalf of people affected with this condition and we signpost people to Social Care for assistance with getting them help with Self Directed Support. We try and include craft programs such as jewellery making, however this is all down to funding, we also open up our Self Directed Support to the whole community. We campaign on behalf of disabled people let down by the system, even our staff are affected.

What we will do to Make it Real

Bringing people together and building strong relationships in and across communities:

We will host weekly sessions in village halls in Mid Suffolk and South Suffolk as these areas are poorly served by disability-based organisations. In these sessions we will provide community outreach activities addressing the needs identified during our research: a mobile internet café, disability and social care advice and signposting, assisting with budgeting (including personalised budgets and direct payments) and confidence-building workshops.

How we will co-produce and with whom

Enabling more people to fulfil their potential by working to address issues at the earliest possible stage:

We intend to be involved on the front line, tackling people’s deeper issues (self confidence and self esteem) rather than concentrating on physical disabilities.

Our discussions with members of the local community highlighted issues: digital exclusion, lack of information concerning musculo-skeletal conditions, lack of support when dealing with social services (personalised budgets, direct payments), and concomitant low self-confidence and low self-esteem.
