Good personalised care and support for people from BAME communities – call for examples

Added on

We are looking for examples that demonstrate what good personalised community-based care and support looks like for people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities (BAME*) and would like your help.

We are committed to ensuring that personalisation works for all. Covid-19 has had a disproportionate effect on people from these communities. We would like to showcase promising practice, whether developed in response to Covid-19 or not, to improve people's experience of support.

We are particularly interested in examples of:

  • organisations providing care and support that have developed good inclusive practice
  • people organising their own support through a direct payment
  • grassroots community organisations and voluntary, community & social enterprise sector organisations, who are specifically working with and for people from BAME communities in the area of care and support
  • councils approaches to reducing care inequalities and improving equality of outcomes. This may include leadership, social work practice, commissioning, and co-production/community engagement activity.

If you have something to share, or know about other organisations that are doing good work in this area, please let us know by emailing davidtruswell@icloud.com or by filling in this short form (opens new window). David Truswell is undertaking this work on behalf of TLAP. If you have any questions or would like to find out more, please contact contact David directly or phone him on 07969 692315.

We will review all the submissions based on their strength and relevance, and publish some examples that illustrate good practice. We will be choosing a selection of projects to explore further and will be in touch if yours is chosen. Due to the high volume we expect to receive, we may not be able to get back to everyone.

The deadline for this work is 18 December.
