Project description

Somerset Foundation Trust have written to all BAME colleagues in light of the evidence of the disproportionate impact of Covid-19 on the BAME community.

What was your response to Covid-19?

Somerset Foundation Trust recognised how worrying it is for BAME colleagues and wanted to provide them with as much support as possible.  Peter Lewis, Chief Executive and Isobel Clements, Director of People wrote to all BAME colleagues to show support and reassurance in relation to job security, priority testing, PPE and wellbeing.

What is the impact and benefit for people?

Sunny Sander-Jackson, BAME network lead has provided the following feedback following discussions with BAME colleagues:

“As BAME Network Lead at the Trust, I have been receiving many more calls and emails from BAME colleagues since the letter from our Executive Team went out to them.  They have told me that they have felt very supported during this difficult time and that the letter had a real impact on helping lifting their morale”

“I have spoken to many of our BAME colleagues who have understandably experienced concern about the rising disproportionate number of BAME deaths in the UK”
