Building the evidence for personalisation with Prof Fox

Added on

Personalisation is about giving individuals greater choice and control with support that draws on strengths and assets. Whilst the right thing to do, it is important to build a strong evidence base of what works best.

In 2017, TLAP published a report Gathering the Evidence: Making Personal Budgets Work for All, setting out a direction for improving understanding on the impact of personalisation. Since then, TLAP has developed close links with the Policy Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU) at Manchester Metropolitan University.

PERU specialise in evaluation and have a strong interest in the growth of personalisation across public services. This collaboration has now stepped up through a Research Fellowship agreed with the University by allowing Professor Chris Fox, Head of PERU, to spend dedicated time with TLAP.

During the course of the Fellowship, Professor Fox will draw together existing evidence on personal budgets and co-production, provide advice and assistance on evaluation to some organisations who are pushing forward with personalisation, and look at how we can forge a closer connection between the world of policy and action on the ground.
