Making it Real for housing report launched

“I feel at the epicentre of my recovery. It is my choice what decisions are made and this alone has had a very positive impact."

Person supported by Together for Mental Wellbeing

A new Making it Real guide for supported housing has been published by TLAP and Sitra, part of Homeless Link.

The Making it Real for Housing guide is aimed at commissioners and service providers, and offers advice and case study examples to show how housing can be tailored to be person-centred and focussed on outcomes.

Partnership day

“Personalisation is as much about people’s attitudes, behaviours and where power sticks as it is government policy”

Steve Scown, Voluntary Organisations Disability Group (VODG).

We recently held a partnership meeting, with the aim of reflecting on what the sector has achieved with personalisation in light of the Care Act and the constraints of austerity.

Blog: Dorset County Council signs up to Making it Real

"The launch event was the first step towards people who use services taking a more influential role in shaping services and taking control. It enforced the commitment and sold the concept and benefits of Making it Real to people who use services, carers, communities and partners. The overwhelming response from all that attended was extremely positive."

Dorset County Council recently launched Making it Real in order to give local people who use health and social care services more control.

Christopher Skinner has looked into how this will make the delivering of services more effective in the region.

They’d be interested to hear from other areas of the country who can tell them about good practice in terms of supported decision making for people with a learning disability. Please contact:  Lucy at Inclusion North lucyvirgo@inclusionnorth.org.
