And the key value?  Mutual respect and equal access to information. Why?  Because they can foster a genuine sense of equality and not a ‘business as usual’ ‘tick box exercise to consultation’

Making the case for local sustainability and transformation plans

If you are in need of making the case for why STPs can make a difference to the lives of people with health and care needs, NHS England have published an online animation explaining how and you can watch it here. They have also published  a blog post here by Dr Arvind Madan, NHS England’s Director of Primary Care, discussing the benefits of bringing care closer to people’s homes. We followed this with another post here by Ed Smith, Chair of NHS Improvement, which explained what the changes mean for those working in the NHS. More materials are to follow.

Letter to the Prime Minister

Sixty-nine charity leaders have signed a joint letter to the Prime Minister calling for a revised funding settlement for health and care. The charities describe the current pressure on health and care as “not acceptable or tenable.” The signatories also call for the development of models of care that work for people with chronic needs and a reaffirmation of the government’s backing for the Five Year Forward View. The Budget on Wednesday 8 March provides the Prime Minister with a chance to help resolve the crisis facing health and care services.
