Catriona Duncan-Rees is TLAP’s newly appointed Co-production Advisor. She has ten years experience promoting and delivering co-design and co-production in Stockport, Adult Social Care and more recently with BBC Sport where she’s been skilling people to design and manage change for themselves.

“I am really honoured to have the opportunity to work with National Co-production and Advisory Group members to actively promote co-production and identify more ways that it can be put into action across the country”.

Reimagining Home care – Wellbeing teams
 
TLAP and ADASS have been running some regional events on a new model of Home Care - "Wellbeing teams".  In response to requests for more information we will be hosting a webinar with Helen Sanderson Associates and SCIE on 24th Feb 1-2pm. Register by Monday 20th.

Highlights from the last Building Community Capacity Practitioners Network Meeting
 
“These network events are keeping me connected and provide huge learning I can take back to my organisation".

“The BCC network events really do impact strategy & planning”.

Our latest BCC network event offered examples of different programmes of community capacity building and a refresher of useful resources and policies. Speakers included David Russell from Just Add Spice on Assett-mapping, and a film viewing of Sheffield's Cycling for All.

Update from National Co-production Advisory Group (NCAG)
 
 
 
 
Witnesses at an enquiry
 
The Communities and Local Government Committee had an enquiry last week on financial sustainability of social care and quality of care providers. Witnesses included people with lived experience such as Isaac Samuels, NCAG member, who was asked about his concerns for the sustainability of funding.  Sharon Allen, Chief Executive Skills for Care discussed whether the social care workforce will grow at a rate commensurate with the demands placed upon it. Other witnesses included Heather Wakefield, National Secretary for Local Government, UNISON, and Clare Jacobs, Employment Relations Adviser, Royal College of Nursing.

Community Catalysts have Power to Change
 
Community Catalysts have gained funding from Power to Change to adapt their tried and tested approach to stimulating and supporting community-driven care and health solutions for local people. It will have a new approach on community business. 

They seek two local authority partners to host pilots. 

Deadline for expressions of interest is 7th Feb. 

Shortlisting is on the 10th Feb.

Alzheimer’s Society Personal Choice Programme
 
Alzheimer’s Society are building momentum with a major rebrand and strapline to help give a bigger voice to every single person affected by dementia.  They also continue to build momentum around their Personal Choice Programme and Network. The Network provides support and advice for local authorities to help them make changes set out in the dementia friendly personal budgets charter, as well as wider support to implement personalisation for people with dementia.

A new Health and Wellbeing Alliance
 
Voluntary, community and statutory organisations working across the health and care sectors are invited to join the Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Health and Wellbeing Alliance. By joining members will be contributing to the priorities of Department of Health, NHS England and Public Health England.

Closing date for applications is 22nd February. Meet the funder webinars will be run on Wednesday 1 Feb and Monday 6th Feb
