What is it ?

This new, regional partnership held its first meeting on 30th August 2011. It brings together senior leaders from local government and health to focus on areas of collaboration that will have the greatest impact on improvement and increased efficiency and effectiveness through a co-ordinated approach.

Recognising that the main activity will be in localities the Collaborative's role is to provide support to those partnerships between local government and health in Yorkshire & the Humber to achieve improvements in quality, efficiency and effectiveness by reducing duplication of effort and sharing best practice.

What will it do ?

Senior leaders met in Leeds to agree the priorities that the Collaborative should concentrate on. Three key issues were chosen as the focus for its work:

  • Think Local Act Personal - the strategic development of improved and personalised public services
  • Joint Commissioning - recognising the importance of using joint strategic needs assessments in communities and translating them into effective joint strategies
  • Assistive Technology - the importance of maximising the impact by more effective joint procurement and deployment

In addition, the Collaborative will maintain good links with existing regional groups on Dementia, Learning Disabilities and End of Life Care and will provide the governance for any remaining projects funded by the former Joint Improvement Partnership.

Who attends ?

The membership is:

  • Martin Farran - Chair - Director of Adults and Communities, Barnsley
  • Elaine McHale, Corporate Director, Family Services, Wakefield
