Older People and Dementia
The National Dementia Strategy was published in February 2009 and, since then, the Department of Health South East has enabled local buy in and local ownership for implementation. The Older People and Dementia Programme has supported leadership and partnership work by:
- Providing specialist expertise and advice;
- Supporting local leaders' networks to form partnerships;
- Making links across policy areas for an integrated approach and shared learning;
- Brokering access to good practice, tools and techniques; and
- Helping leaders build learning and evaluation into local programmes.
The involvement of people with dementia and their families/carers has underpinned this approach.
