  • Sibling carers of children and young people with a terminal or life
    The siblings of children and young people with a life threatening or terminal illness often find themselves in the role of a carer to their ill brother or sister. This can be on an informal basis (for example being with the sibling whilst parents go out to the shops) or require more intense support (for example giving medicine, helping with moving needs etc).
  • Reaching out to Carers Innovation Fund Report: long term "Living With Stroke" support programme
    Think Ahead Community Stroke Group offers help to Stroke Survivors, their families and carers across Wigan and Leigh to improve the quality of their lives by providing friendship, information, advice, support and education, together with opportunities for interaction with other members by organising outings, respite breaks and appropriate social activities. The report is available to download along with support material.
  • Commissioning for Mental Health Outcomes in the North West
    The North West Mental Health Improvement Programme (NW MHIP) and the National Mental Health Development Unit (NMHDU) have been working with commissioners in the North West of England to form the North West Commissioning for Outcomes Project. The project was established with the following three aims:to provide commissioners with tools to commission for clear outcomes; to enable providers to clearly articulate outcomes for their service users that result from their service interventions; and to learn lessons about the process of agreeing This work was funded by NHS North West and developed in the region.
  • Reaching Out to Carers' Innovation Fund Blackpool Citizens' Advice Bureau Carers' Outreach Advice Service Evaluation Report
    The aim of the project was to provide advice and information to individuals identified by professional health care workers as having caring responsibilities for those needing hospital or community health support as a result of mental or physical ill health or injury. This would be delivered through the provision of a specially printed Carers' Information Pack, a directory of advice and information designed to assist hospital staff and health care workers with information on the non-medical care needs of the carers and the patients they deal with.
  • Reaching out to Carers Innovation fund Evaluation Report: Carers Café @ Listening Ear
    The aim of this project was to set up a 'Carers Café' to provide an informal opportunity for networking, peer support and signposting to various support services including the Listening Ear Counselling Service. The idea was that the project would be supported by attendance at the weekly 'Carers Café' of a support worker from Sandwell Adult Services (Carers Support).
  • That's because you love me' - Report on Age UK Wirral's Grandparent Carer Project
    Publication Date25th May 2011Report on Age UK Wirral's Department of Health 'Reaching Out For Carers Innovation Fund' funded project into the needs and experiences of grandparent carers within the Borough of Wirral.
  • Mental Well-being Impact Assessment Toolkit
    This is the new version of the Mental Well-being Impact Assessment (MWIA) Toolkit, published by the National Mental Health Development Unit (NMHDU) in partnership with the English National MWIA Collaborative. The toolkit helps support services within health, local government and the voluntary and private sector to embed mental well-being.
  • Altogether NOW- Collectively figuring out how to develop alternatives to just paid support
    This paper, based on work by organisations in the North West, looks at how providers and commissioners can work together to develop individually designed services at a time of reducing resources. The paper explains the principle of just enough support, where people have neither too much not too little (both of which can be equally bad), and where we work ethically and tirelessly, whatever the financial realities, to develop additional and alternative support through communities, families, technology and other solutions.
  • Essex 3-year study on personal budgets
    The Office for Public Management (OPM) and Essex Coalition of Disabled People (ECDP) have been commissioned by Essex County Council to carry out a 3-year study on the impact of personal budgets on 46 disabled and older people in Essex. The study provides in-depth insights from service users and their families over a 3-year period.
  • Workforce & Leadership 09/10 work plan
    Attached is a copy of a workforce and leadership work plan for the North west JIP. The purpose of which is to achieve culture change for transformation and personalisation in the workforce of both the independent and statutory sectors.
