North East Quality Standards in Regulated Services

Added: 03/08/2010

The aim of thie project is the development of a set of minimum regional quality standards for regulated services which exceed national minimum standards and complement the work of the Care Quality Commission. These standards will provide a regional framework and a consistent approach for commissioners, providers, service users, family carers and care managers to monitor individual outcomes; check service improvements and maximise efficiencies.

The project will use a collaborative approach in developing the regional Quality Standards Framework and will build upon existing quality assurance and best practice within the twelve LA's monitoring and reviewing functions. The Framework will have a strong focus on service user and carer involvement and personalised outcomes as core determinants of quality, reliability, value for money and effectiveness.

Objectives:

  • The development of a regional minimum Quality Standards Framework for regulated services across commissioned and Council provision which can be implemented to accommodate local variation
  • Development of excellent links with the newly formed Care Quality Commission to support the implementation of the regional Quality Standards Framework
  • Development of a passporting process for regulated providers to reduce bureaucracy and improve efficient and reliable commissioning practice and intelligence
  • To enhance quality and safety and reduce regional POVA alerts within regulated services
