- Sibling carers of children and young people with a terminal or life
The siblings of children and young people with a life threatening or terminal illness often find themselves in the role of a carer to their ill brother or sister. This can be on an informal basis (for example being with the sibling whilst parents go out to the shops) or require more intense support (for example giving medicine, helping with moving needs etc). - The the needs of informal carers of those living with dementia
The project took place within the City of Hull with Hull Churches Home from Hospital Service the organisation within which it was set. The focus of the project was the needs of informal carers of those living with dementia and involved undertaking a needs analysis of carers; developing a training package for volunteers and staff ; and holding a Conference to disseminate and discuss issues raised. - Carers' Information and Support Programme Pilot: Alzheimer's Society's
Over three months we piloted the first ever national Carers' Information and Support Programme for carers of people with dementia prior to rolling it out nationally. At three locations, trained facilitators delivered four pilot modules designed in conjunction with carers, providing them with quality information about dementia, practical advice on day to day caring, and signposting carers to local services and financial benefits. - Dimensions-Early Intervention Service for Carers of People with Dementia
The service is a partnership between Age UK Tameside, Tameside MBC Carers Centre and Alzheimers Society. Hosted by Age UK Tameside, it aims to provide:Borough-wide awareness raising campaign around getting support before crisis point Weekly drop in sessions for those with dementia and their carers Information hub with multi-agency input, guest speakers, use of digital technology/internet including Syndication with Carers Direct Early screening and referral to Tameside and Glossop Memory Clinic Support to approach GPs for diagnosis Assessment of social, emotional, financial employment, physical/mental health and environmental needs, and appropriate signposting Group sessions Volunteer led Befriending Services for carers Use of assisted technology Specialist advocacy services . - Implementation of Objective 6 of the National Dementia Strategy in the North East
This project supports the regional implementation of Objective 6 of the National Dementia StrategyThe project will seek to enhance the implementation of Objective 6 through the following high-level outcomes:Development of the market to ensure there is a range of services for people with dementia living at home and their carers that meet the needs, choices and aspirations of those who use them. Supporting existing providers to develop high quality services for people with Dementia Reducing the culture of risk aversion when working with people with dementia and reducing/removing stigma as a barrier to equality The project has the following objectives:To explore the experience, needs and desires of people with dementia and their carers based on a programme of engagement and a literature review of existing regional and national evidence. - Essex 3-year study on personal budgets
The Office for Public Management (OPM) and Essex Coalition of Disabled People (ECDP) have been commissioned by Essex County Council to carry out a 3-year study on the impact of personal budgets on 46 disabled and older people in Essex. The study provides in-depth insights from service users and their families over a 3-year period. - Improving Public Relation and Communication in Personalisation across the North East
This project aims to support local authorities to develop and enhance skills necessary to support effective communication regarding the transformation of Adult Social Care. The main input and facilitation for the project will come from communication and PR expertise. - Exploring the Electronic Market for Social Care in the North East
This project assessed the viability of the electronic social market place for the North East. The project undertook an appraisal of the present state of the local market in two specific areas of the region. - Involving People in Transformation in the North East
The North East has developed a project dedicated to the involvement of local people in its work. The Adult Social Care Programme in the North East aims to deliver greater choice and control for people who need social care and to develop services that can meet future needs. - Local Area Coordination in the North East
This project is exploring how the Local Area Coordination approach can support the development of Personalisation and self directed support. Local Area Coordination (LAC), developed in Australia in 1988, offers a way to build individual, family and community self sufficiency so that disabled and older people can choose to live with their families, or in their local community without compromising their quality of life.
