  • Best Practice in Direct Payments Support - A Guide for Commissoners
  • Monday 21 November - All change! Gearing up for the health and social care reforms
    This conference, taking place next week Monday 21 November at the Hotel Russell in London is focussed on the changes in the health and social care world and the effects this will have on the voluntary sector. Led by national voluntary sector organisations and the Department of Health policy leads, Paul Burstow has now been confirmed to speak on the day.
  • Dystonia Carers Initiative
    Development of the support that The Dystonia Society provides for people who care for individuals living with dystonia - a debilitating neurological movement disorder. The project aimed to: Help people who provide care identify themselves as Carers Ensure that the personal welfare and needs of carers is considered Support carers in their caring role through provision of information and direct support This project involved the development of Helpline support, signposting of services and the production of new resources specifically for carers.
  • Sibling carers of children and young people with a terminal or life
    The siblings of children and young people with a life threatening or terminal illness often find themselves in the role of a carer to their ill brother or sister. This can be on an informal basis (for example being with the sibling whilst parents go out to the shops) or require more intense support (for example giving medicine, helping with moving needs etc).
  • Personalisation a guide for carers
    The London JIP supported the boroughs in developing this guide on personalisation for carers. The aim of this guide is to enable people to make their own decisions about the support that they receive regardless whether support is being funded by local authorities or is self-funded.
  • PLACES OF WORSHIP HIDDEN CARERS PROJECT
    In January 2011, Newham Carers Network which is part of the Renewal Programme was awarded a grant from the Reaching Carers Innovation Fund for a short term project , The identification of Hidden Carers in places of Worship in the London Borough of Newham. The project had to be completed by the end of March 2011.
  • Caring Counts - volunteer support for carers in families
    Organisation: Home-Start WestminsterTo reach out to family members who have taken on a caring role, Home-Start Westminster has developed a framework for training and supervising volunteers to support carers in families with young children for two hours a week, in their homes or within the local community. Volunteers have provided significant emotional support as well as linking carers in families up with services, information and practical advice on how they can best manage their caring role while ensuring their own well-being.
  • Carers' Information and Support Programme Pilot: Alzheimer's Society's
    Over three months we piloted the first ever national Carers' Information and Support Programme for carers of people with dementia prior to rolling it out nationally. At three locations, trained facilitators delivered four pilot modules designed in conjunction with carers, providing them with quality information about dementia, practical advice on day to day caring, and signposting carers to local services and financial benefits.
  • Croydon Neighbourhood Care Association
    Evaluation report for the Reaching out to Carers Innovation FundIn partnership with CNCA?s 30 associated organisations, which provide services to older people (over 50?s) and adults with disabilities, CNCA?s trustees decided that they had been supporting carers through its partner services since its inception, but it had never been recognised for the work it does with carers. Therefore we developed a project where volunteers and staff were trained to identify carers (currently 29,426 in Croydon) of the service users, when their needs are still low and therefore not in receipt of local authority services.
  • London JIP Transformation Programme - North West London DVD - Living Life.
    This DVD was produced by jointly by Ealing, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Brent, Harrow and Hammersmith and Fulham. In Control facilitated the project group and the planning and production was co-produced with users and carers.
