Dilnot's Fairer Care Funding Report: response from the Think Local, Act Personal Partnership.

Added on

The Think Local, Act Personal Partnership welcomes the Dilnot Commission's Fairer Care Funding report published today. We expect the government to provide the leadership the issue now needs and create a lasting settlement fit for the 21st century.

Improving access to information, including financial advice, is one of our key priorities. We have begun exploring - with Government and other major partners - the creation of a national information content and delivery portal to help the public navigate the care system, regardless of whether their care is privately funded or provided by the state.

We welcome the proposals' progression of personalisation so people can have choice and control to achieve the outcomes they want and plan their lives as they wish. We also welcome report's emphasis prevention and early intervention as a means of avoiding a person's support needs escalating, while also making financial savings. Our unique position of support from over 30 of the sector's leading organisations allied in transforming adult social care through personalisation and community-based support means we are well placed as a vehicle to progress some of the issues raised today.

We agree with Dilnot's assessment that the system is broken and in need of urgent repair. We look forward to working closely with relevant organisations in the run up to - and following - publication of the future White Paper and the government's response.
