New Prevention Library

Added on

SCIE is developing a new online resource focussing on prevention services in adult social care - The Prevention Library.

Who is the intended audience for the library?

The library is intended to support care commissioners and other local authority stakeholders in developing preventative services for adults who currently have or may develop a social care need. This includes older people, and adults with long-term conditions, learning disabilities and mental health issues.

Prevention Library content

The new resource, commissioned by the Department of Health, will collate information on emerging research evidence, case studies and practical tools on projects and interventions which are being delivered or developed across England. These include:

  • assisted living
  • reablement services
  • lower-level support helping people to maintain their independence
  • community services aiming to reduce social isolation and loneliness.

The library will be launched in January as part of the Social Care Institute for Excellence website.
