New Patient Engagement Programme

Added on

National Voices is launching a new programme which will build the capacity of voluntary sector organisations to support patients and people who use services.

The aim of the programme, funded by the Health Foundation, is to help and empower people to be active in:

  • managing their condition(s) and working towards their personal goals
  • making decisions about the care, support and treatment they receive
  • engaging with and shaping health and care services

Throughout the programme National Voices will work with organisations representing people who use health and social care services, including those who do not typically describe themselves as 'patients'.

Steering group for the Patient Engagement Programme

National Voices are seeking three experts by experience to join the steering group for the Patient Engagement Programme.

Members' roles will include:

  • Advising the programme leader and director of policy throughout the design and implementation of the programme
  • Providing advice and support with:
  • Identifying available research and resources relevant to the programme
  • Engaging the right organisations and individuals in the programme
  • Developing a model of change - planning for and evidencing programme outcomes
  • Acting as ambassadors on behalf of the programme, using their influence to help achieve success, particularly by working with senior leaders in voluntary and community sector organisations or providing links into groups of people who use services

How to apply

If you are interested in applying for this role, please see the role description and details of how to apply. If you would like to discuss the role further, please email Natalie.koussa@nationalvoices.org.uk or call 0203 176 0773. The deadline for applications is 20 August. Applicants will be chosen to reflect a range of experience and perspectives and, as such, priority will be given to those who have not previously worked in a strategic role with National Voices.

There will also be opportunities to become involved in the programme at a later stage, for instance through co-facilitating shared learning workshops - if you would be interested in becoming involved in this way, please include this in your application or email Natalie.koussa@nationalvoices.org.uk to express your interest.

Invitation to vote for programme name

The name of the programme may discourage social care organisations or people who use services who would not identify themselves as 'patients' from getting involved. National Voices are asking for help to find a name which engages people and organisations across social care and health. Please vote for your favourite or suggest your own.
