Personal budgets in mental health: Key points on implementation

Personal health budgets have been shown to improve quality of life and reduce the use of inpatient care and to be cost-effective.

NHS England expects clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) to expand the use of personal health budgets by offering them to people with long-term conditions who could benefit. People who access mental health services are known to benefit from using personal budgets to support thier choice and independence.
