SCIE has reviewed currently available evidence and identified emerging practice messages to help with planning reablement services.

Lincolnshire County Council ran a pilot looking at how the independent sector could provide the Lincolnshire Assessment and Reablement Service (LARS). The project report and responses to the LARS questionnaire can be viewed below.

Report for Cost Benefit of OT in Reablement and Person Centred Ladder by Zaid Latif, Nottingham City Council The East Midland Reablement Evaluation Tool (EMRET) was produced to provide a baseline for the evaluation of reablement services across the region. It was produced following recommendations made at a meeting organised through the East Midland Region - Care Services Efficiency Delivery programme.

The documents below explore some of the financial challenges of an ageing population and meeting levels of demand where budgets are under pressures.

Increasingly, local authorities are beginning to consider the potential benefits of outsourcing reablement services. The benefits of outsourcing can be complicated by issues such as TUPE and the retained costs of administering contractual relationships and managing quality.

CSED helps councils to identify and develop more efficient ways of delivering adult social care. CSED is focused on efficiency solutions that support the transformation of adult social care, set out in Putting People First, and help deliver sustainable transformation with maximum benefit to service users.

A recently completed review of reablement services in the region highlights areas of good practice and challenges. The report and research findings form part of the South East's Joint Improvement Partnership (JIP) programme of activity to support Local Authorities in the delivery of social care and in particular Transforming Adult Social Care.

An in-depth analysis of the benefits of the SP programme to highlight learning for Personalisation in the North East. This project will undertake an in-depth regional analysis of the benefits of the Supporting People Programme to highlight where efficiencies and good commissioning practise could affect the costs of procurement of Social Care Services for Independent Living, in advance of the mainstreaming of the supporting people programme by March 2011.

A comprehensive project to support development of the market place in the North East, this project involved a Festival of Ideas and a Provider Innovation Fund. This project will work with established service providers, including in-house, local authority services, to assist them to deliver personalisation as a first step towards self directed support.
