This section brings you real life accounts of the implementation and use of personal budgets and the impact that they have made on the lives of those who have received them.
These stories have been taken from the Personal Budgets DVD Living your life your way.
My vision of social care is one that recognises that people have the right to control the way they manage their care and health needs. People should be able to choose services that fit in with their life, rather than fitting their life around the service.
Despite challenging economic times, we must push ahead in transforming the care and support system to one that promotes personal control, responsibility and well-being through personalisation, community involvement and prevention.
This DVD brings together a collection of very powerful stories about how personalisation through personal budgets can give older people, people with disabilities and their carers and families more dignity, responsibility and a feeling of being valued and able to contribute to community life. From gaining skills and getting work, living independently or improving health and well-being, personalisation is a vital guiding principle for the future of health and social care.
