Transforming social care through Direct Payments event resources

Between November 2011 and March 2012 The Think Local Act Personal partnership and the National Centre for Independent Living are joining forces to deliver a series of 9 regional events for England aimed at supporting councils to make significant improvements to the take up of direct payments and work towards making them the preferred way of delivering personal budgets.

Aimed at Senior Commissioners and Operational managers and providers, the events follow the launch of Think Local Act Personal's (TLAP's) guidance on Direct Payments, TLAP Improving Direct Payments Delivery which was launched on 21st October at this years NCAS conference.

Alongside TLAP and NCIL, Skills for Care, Shared Lives Plus (formerly NAAPS UK), Groundswell and HMRC are running workshops at each event.

As part of our commitment to share their learning with people responsible for making direct payments work for people in local areas all the presentations from the events are downloadable below in addition to the outputs from each workshop.

When the programme of events are complete we will be picking out key themes from the sessions and drawing these together into a short report to highlight what people are telling us is needed to make a step change in delivering direct payments.
