TeleCare Benefit Calculator Tool
Added: 12/08/2010
Telecare can sustain people with a wide range of conditions in their own homes, and offer support to their carers, so that resources which would otherwise be spent on hospital, residential or nursing care can be allocated elsewhere in the health and social care system. Much has been written on the use of telecare over the past few years. There is a wealth of material and information examining the approaches and benefits of telecare, telehealth, telemedicine and other assistive technologies. Many councils are already adopting individual pieces of technology or incorporating telecare into elements of their services. Yet despite widespread acceptance of the benefits of telecare and the increased independence, choice and control it offers users and carers, its use across the country remains largely piecemeal. Importantly, its value in delivering more efficient and cost effective services remains under exploited. Recognising this the London Region JIP in conjunction with Choose Independence completed a survey to identify current practice in London the results of which lead to the development of two tools - the Benefits Calculator & Optimum Delivery Model.
