We are part of the Think Local Act Personal partnership. The project is working with local government partners, community groups and providers to explore the role of social capital and co-production in the transformation of adult social care and its contribution to health, wellbeing, independence and quality of life for all.
What we're trying to do
We believe that a clear position on the value of social capital and co-production is a vital part of delivering personalisation and the transformation of services.
This project is aiming to:
a) describe the role of social capital in everyday life, especially in enabling people in local communities to directly help themselves and one another
b) describe more clearly how health, wellbeing and quality of life outcomes are co-produced by individuals, groups and communities
c) identify and exemplify how services can recognise the value of social capital and co-production and help to further develop them. For example, this could be at an individual or support plan level, or at a strategic planning or commissioning level
d) gathering and sharing learning from a group of trailblazer authorities
e) develop evidence around the benefits and cost-effectiveness of community capacity-building initiatives.
The project will aim to link to other policy areas that contribute towards building stronger and more resilient communities, for example those relating to housing and employment. To find out more about the project, click here (opens new window)
We will be publishing our findings in Spring and Autumn 2010 which will draw on best practice developed in part by a Learning Network local authorities and other partners across the country. However, we need many more contributions from a wider cross-section of councils through our online Learning Community. To find out more about the learning community, click here
