For more idea of the project's context click here (opens new window) for Clive Miller's (OPM) paper on a proposed framework for the social capital project and here (opens new window) for a report by John O'Brien and David Towell which develops thinking around building sustainable and inclusive communities.

We are also working with academics from the London School of Economics and the Open University to review the evidence around the cost-effectiveness and benefits of community capacity-building initiatives.

We are hoping to develop a simple evaluative tool to help local authorities assess the costs and benefits of their initiatives on an ongoing basis.
