On 28th January 2011 at the Guardian offices in London, we held a Dragons' Den style event for 8 organisations that had developed successful approaches to building community capacity. The aims of the event were two-fold:
- To successfully raise the profile of community capacity building as an essential not optional aspect of the future development of social care in the UK
and - To help identify a set of approaches that are effective, feasible and applicable across a range of different local authorities.
This section of the website will guide you through the event and direct you towards useful bits of information including a list of participants and the Dragons' verdict on each of the 8 organisations that took part along with the 'pitchers'' papers and our write-up in the Guardian Society!
